"Elegy for a Pig"

In one of the most moving Adam-12 episodes, "Elegy for a Pig," Pete's best
friend, Officer Tom Porter, is killed in the line of duty. The funeral scene
is incredibly moving, especially when the officer played Taps. Here are
the actual words to Taps, which was written by a Union officer during the
U.S. Civil War:
"TAPS"
Day is done,
Gone the sun,
From the lakes,
From the hills
From the sky
All is well,
Safely rest,
God is nigh.
May we always remember those who have fallen in the line
of duty and keep their memory sacred.
Comments: I just saw the episode Elegy for a Pig and was
reminded of a police officer's funeral I once attended. The episode
made me think about Taps and its history and meaning.
